Preparing the Effective Elementary 数学 Teacher

The project, Noyce at Montclair: Preparing the Effective Elementary 数学 Teacher (PE2MT), is a Capacity Building project designed to increase the number of elementary teachers with extraordinary preparation for teaching 数学. Drawing on shared resources and the ongoing collaborations between faculty in the College of Science and 数学 and the College of Education and Human Services, this project will develop an “enhanced” degree program leading to a bachelor of arts in 数学 with a concentration in K-6 teaching. The enhancing feature of the degree program that will prepare students for effective elementary 数学 teaching and leadership is an integration of the following experiences with coursework:

  1. Academic support for advanced content courses
  2. Enriched methods and specialized content courses
  3. Early and ongoing field experiences
  4. Undergraduate research experience
  5. In-service induction support.

Secondary Teacher Education at Montclair for STEM (STEM-4-STEM)

The Noyce Secondary Teacher Education at Montclair for STEM (STEM-4-STEM) program is dedicated to recruiting, 准备, and supporting new science and 数学 teachers for New Jersey’s high-need K-12 school districts. This project is funded by the National Science Foundation and offers scholarships equal to the amount of New Jersey in-state tuition and fees, as well as an annual stipend of $2,000 to undergraduate or graduate biology, 化学, 地球科学, 数学, and physics majors admitted into the 十大博彩推荐排名州立 大学 Teacher Education Program.

The 诺伊斯STEM-4-STEM involves key features:

  • Financial support for two years of undergraduate teacher preparation and/or one year of graduate teacher preparation.
  • A series of professional experiences designed to support high-quality science teaching.
  • Intensive and well-supervised school-based field experiences.
  • A partnership with Bergen Community College to better understand and support the needs of STEM students transferring to MSU.

Robert Noyce Science Teacher Scholarship Program (2013-2022)
