Profile
Currently, I am teaching in Foundation courses in the Art Department. Recent courses include Process and Media I (Surface) and Drawing as Research. Both courses use tools that alternate between traditional drawing and painting practices and digital media. Many assignments are process-based, research driven and at times collaborative. I enjoy teaching these courses as they reflect on my own artistic practice. For more information visit my website: http://www.laurencomito.com
Specialization
My work is project-based and addresses the complexity of personal and collective identity, and often involves working with personal archives that accumulate material or data over a period of time. I am always interested in learning new material processes to incorporate into my work that create meaningful relationships with the subject matter I engage in. Areas of interest include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, digital media, installation, video, and mold-making.
